What the Latest CFP Rankings Mean

Okay, this season might be the most interesting one since 2014. The current CFP rankings are 1. LSU 2. Ohio State 3. Clemson 4. Georgia. Now WHY is this big? Notice anything weird about those rankings? Oh yeah Alabama is sitting over at #5.

This turns the debate into not when Alabama will be back in the top 4, but how? There is a case out there for other teams that could block Alabama: Oregon, Utah, and Minnesota. Alabama also has yet to play 12 Auburn as well, but if they win out they will be a 11-1 and not a conference champion. How is this different than 2017, when Alabama sneaked into the playoff at #4?

That year Alabama had at least two quality wins versus top 25 teams, this year they’re 0-1 and the only other top 25 team they will play is Auburn. If you take a one-loss PAC-12 team (i.e. Oregon or Utah), their resume is way more impressive. Only time will tell, the next few weeks is much watch football.
