It’s conference championship weekend, it’s time to separate the men from the boys. Who wants it more? Personally this is one of my favorite weekends of college football, especially now that we’re in the College Football Playoff era.
The PAC-12 championship game will be played on Friday Dec. 6 at 7 pm on ESPN. The match up is 5 Utah and 13 Oregon with Utah getting 7 points for the spread. Many have speculated that Utah will need to win big in order to make the playoff. I don’t think that is needed, if that were true why would the committee put Utah at five, and have Oklahoma at six? My prediction is that Utah wins 31-28 in a great game. Utah’s defense and great running game will be too much for the Ducks.
The SEC championship this year has the biggest impact on the playoff. 2 LSU and 4 Georgia will face off, the spread is 7 points in favor of LSU. Joe Burrow and this electric LSU offense has been dominating all year long, but their defense has been inconsistent. LSU has built a reputation for great defenses, but this year they have been barely average at best. Georgia’s defense has been one of the best in the country, but the offense and QB Jake Fromm has been average at best. I think that Georgia will be able to run the ball against the LSU defense but Joe Burrow and this great offense is just too much. LSU wins 45-24.
The ACC is a joke, we all know this. The ACC title game is 3 Clemson and 23 Virginia, the spread is 28.5 points in favor of Clemson. Clemson in my opinion has been overrated the whole season, even with their terrible performance against North Carolina. Trevor Lawrence has returned to his elite play, and the Clemson defense has actually been better this year. Clemson will mop the floor with Virginia, it won’t be close. Head Coach of Clemson Dabo Swinney has repeatedly voiced his opinion that his team ‘can’t make mistakes, and no one believes in them.’ I feel that Clemson will win this big, 50- 10.
I will have a part 2 to this, finishing with the Big 12 and BIG 10 games.
