Why Lamar Jackson is the MVP

Lamar Jackson has had an insane season, last night Jackson broke the single-season rushing record by a quarterback. Which quarterback set that record? Michael Vick, one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks this league has ever seen.

The reason that it is crazy that Jackson is the front-runner for MVP is it came out of nowhere. Last year Jackson rarely had a completion percentage over 60%, and was perceived as a running back playing quarterback.

He has responded by revolutionizing the position, making every player account for him whether that’s the via the run or the pass. Now how could the NFL not see this? Jackson wasn’t taken till the 32nd overall pick in the 2018 draft, and he’s playing beyond what the ‘experts’ expected from him.

Its arrogance, the aging narrative of the ‘NFL Quarterback’ is you need to be a tall, big guy that can sit in the pocket and throw the ball. Jackson has shown that he can do this along with running a run first offense, and it is amazing that he is surpassing all expectations.

Bill Polian who was one of the best GM’s in NFL history, was responsible for building the great Colts teams in the early 2000s. Polian said that Jackson would be better suited as a reciever in the NFL, and doesn’t have the skill set to be an NFL quarterback.

Well looks like his prediction was off by quite a bit, it will be interesting to see how Jackson does in the playoffs. Many have the Ravens going to the Super Bowl to represent the AFC this year.
